Virginia TimeTravelers.

Remembering the first year of TimeTravelers:

The following web pages were part of the TimeTravelers Journal, a website feature in 1997, the first year of the program. Samantha was the first TimeTravelers correspondent, reporting on the sites she visited with family and friends in her quest to complete her passport.

Samantha graduated from college in May 2006 and reflects on her TimeTravelers years:
"Time Travelers helped open my eyes to the fascinating history our state has to offer. Virginia really is an amazing and beautiful state. If it wasn't for this program I know I would not have visited many of these sites and museums. Stated more bluntly, before TimeTravelers, I thought museums were a boring waste of time. The fact is, this program is a great resource for families to promote education and learning in a fun way. I hope you enjoy my journal."

Hi, I'm Sam! I hope you've been following along with my travels. Well, my mission is complete. I visited 6 TimeTravelers destinations (7 actually). I went to places in Virginia I've never seen before and that's always fun. I think I'm going to miss TimeTravelers. It sure makes me want to see more of my state. At least now I can get my T-shirt and certificate. Tell you what, I'll show you a picture of my shirt when I get it.
This one will give you goosebumps: Richmond's Poe Museum.
The Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop in Fredericksburg.
TIP: when traveling in the 18th century, don't get sick!
The Mariners' Museum in Newport News, close enough to the beach.
Michie Tavern and The Stonewall Jackson House - two visits in one great weekend!
Old Town Alexandria - home of Gadsby's Tavern, the Alexandria Archaeology Museum, and lots more!
