The Scrapbook (from 1999)

These are a few things that I had written in my journal

Today my family and I went to Mount Vernon. That is the place where George & Martha Washington lived. He also was the first president.

Inside of the mansion are two dining rooms. One dining room is small and the other dining room is big. In the big dining room George called it the "Newroom" because it was the last room made in the mansion. He had a room that had a harpsichord and a flute. He also had a some music and a music stand because he wanted his children to learn music and learn it well.

When we went upstairs we saw three bedrooms. One was for George and Martha, and the other two for the kids. The three bedrooms were very nice. And the rooms were all different sizes.

Then we went downstairs and saw the bedroom.where George Washington died. I forgot what he died from but I know it was a terrible illness.

What I thought was interesting was that 677 guests could come a year. He also had a lot of slaves & servants. They sure did make a lovely grave for the slaves & servants.

And George & Martha had lovely graves. But George Wasington had a prettier grave.
